An error says my Install URL has expired. How do I link my device now?
🧾 What This Error Means
The Install URL is used to link your Android device to a specific location in the Restaurant Alert + Deliver app.
If unused for over 30 days, the URL will expire for security reasons.
❓ FAQ: Do I need to re-link my device every month?
No. Once your device is successfully linked, you do not need to re-link it monthly.
You only need a new Install URL if:
- The original one expired before being used, or
- You manually unlinked your device and need to set it up again
✅ How to Generate a New Install URL and Link Your Device
⚠️ Make sure you're using a compatible touchscreen Android device (OS version 5 or higher).
Step 1
On your Android device, download the In-Store Merchant App via Google Play:
👉 Download the App
Step 2
Log in to your Shopify Store, then go to:
Apps > Restaurant Alert + Deliver > Locations
Step 3
Select the location you want to link a device to.
Step 4
On the right side of the screen, look for the Merchant App section.
If the Install URL has expired, you will see an error.
⚠️ You must already have a location set up in your Shopify store.
Step 5
Click Generate a New URL to create a fresh link.
Step 6
- Click Show to display the URL
- Or click the clipboard icon to copy the URL and send it to your Android device via email or chat
💡 You can also click Show QR to generate a QR code instead.
Step 7
Open the Install URL directly on the Android device.
This will automatically open the In-Store Merchant App and begin the linking process.
💡 If using QR code:
Open the In-Store Merchant App > Tap Scan QR > Scan the code > Tap Link Device to confirm.
Step 8
Confirm the link by tapping Link Device when prompted.
🏁 You’re done! 🏁
✅ How to Confirm If the Device Is Linked
- Go to Shopify Admin > Apps > Restaurant Alert + Deliver > Locations
- Select your location
- If the device is linked, you will see App Settings instead of an Install URL
